So yesterday I had my hair cut by Ryan-who-also-does-Angel.

Seems him and JPA have got quite chummy. Ryan was round there for dinner the other night, and JPA apparently said the following which we thought quite interesting (R is a Mancunian ManUre fan, so presumably doesn't have a dog in the fight...)

- he didn't like DOL and if DOL hadn't gone, he (JPA) was going to go to Newcastle.
- Spurs came in for him at the beginning of last season, but Ellis wanted so much for him that Spurs laughed in his face.
- DOL had them doing weight training three times a week, every week, throughout the season. JPA said he'd really bulked up and felt really slow and heavy. With MON, on the other hand, they do no weights at all, just swimming and a bit of running and it's made a lot of difference.
- he likes MON because he's a straight talker, says what he wants, does what he says.
- he wants to stay in England but would quite like one more move while he's still got a few years left in him. He's good mates with Nobby Solano so Newcastle is still not out of the question.

Fury as Blues pupils forced to wear Villa colours

Sep 6 2006

Exclusive By Lisa Smith

BLUES-mad pupils at a school in the shadow of St Andrew's are crying foul after their traditional royal blue uniform was swapped - for the claret and blue of city rivals Aston Villa.

For decades pupils at St Andrew's Primary School in Bordesley have proudly worn royal blue sweatshirts with a royal blue and white striped tie and a white shirt - the same colour their football heroes wear on the pitch next door.

But the uniform has now changed as the school prepares to re-open next week as Bordesley Village School and Children's Centre.

Parents informed by letter at the end of last term say any other new colour uniform would have been acceptable. But their Blues-mad sons and daughters are not prepared to start wearing claret and blue - the traditional colours of Second City rivals Aston Villa.

The move has already sparked outrage from the Birmingham City Supporters Club which meets at the St Andrew's Tavern in Small Heath.

Just got home from Villa triumph over Reading. Yeah, I know: Reading. But they have won their last eleventy games and came back from two down to beat Middlesborough at the weekend.

Anyway, it was a big crowd for a disgusting wet Wednesday night (37,000+), and a MASSIVE reception for MON, who sprinted onto the pitch in a black tracksuit. Made a nice change from DOL slinking on in his Aquascutum overcoat and propping up the dugout for ninety minutes.

Villa won 2-1 in the end: came back from behind, thanks to a JPA penalty and a Barry goal.

Oh and the pie recipe has changed from last season: more cumin in them, I think.

And so dawns a new age... [Aug. 16th, 2006|12:05 am]

It looks like Ellis is out, and Lerner is in. Despite the scepticism, the cynicism, and Ellis' immortality, he finally bows out and Villa enters the hand of a dirty Yank, sure to sell us and his grandmother down the river for a few extra bucks. Nevertheless, I like the sound of newsarticles claiming he wants to build up Villa as a markettable brand. Unless that is like the "team that always disappoints, but hilariously so!"

Still, a day that I think the entire genuine Villa supporting world has been waiting for, the end of the Ellis era, a new manager, a new chairman, a new age and that can only be a good thing...considering our performance in the last few seasons...Up the Villa...

We have a manager... [Aug. 4th, 2006|08:43 pm]

BBC Sport story here

I'm happy with the appointment of Martin O'Neill. He's a great manager with a great track record and I believe he will be able to move the club forwards. Don't know how much money he has to spend but he claims he has some. If we manage to conclude some kind of takeover then hopefully that the club will finally be able to work towards being the great club we're capable of being. We have a pre-season tour of Holland and Germany to get through before work starts proper at the Emirates Stadium on August 19th.

I couldn't get to Villa Park for the press conference because I was working but a mate of mine was there. Apparently the atmosphere was amazing. Bring on the good times...

Rumours galore are filling the Villa message boards. Apparently Martin O'Neill has been spotted at the Belfry and will be unveiled as manager any day now. Whether this means a takeover is imminent, whether it's hyperbole or whether there's some substance in it, hopefully we'll find out soon.

Latest reports on the beeb suggest Randy Lerner will make a bid this week. With all these rumours and then denials going around, will this get resolved soon?
